Hispanic Heritage 2016 #Women2Watch from HipLatina

Prev1 of 4Next

As part of Hispanic Heritage month we are celebrating the first Wednesday by shining a light on several inspiring Latinas. The women we are honoring have made contributions to our world through exploration, legal activism, journalism, and advocacy for all girls.  This impressive group of women include: first Latina to orbit the earth in space, a trailblazer in Latinx talk show production, an advocate for Latino civic engagement, and a leader for girls as champion for STEM education for young women. Every one of these women are leaders and Latinas to watch.

But one of the best places for Latina scientists to work is NASA, which has over 100 Hispanic scientists and engineers, including Dr. Ellen Ochoa, the 11th Director of Johnson Space Center. Dr. Ochoa has been in space four times, nearly logging 1,000 hours of time in orbit.
