Cardi B Thanking Her Haters for Her Success Is Why She is a Queen

At Sunday night’s iHeartRadio Music Awards, Cardi B was the undeniable belle of the ball. The show, which was held in Los Angeles, was undoubtedly her night. The night started out with Cardi B looking like a princess in a gorgeous burgundy tulle dress made by Christian Siriano; then the 25-year-old rapper walked away with the award for best new artist.

In her usual unapologetic tone, she dedicated her award to both her lovers and her haters. You might think that’s a bit strange, but it should come as no surprise from the woman who ruled 2017, hustled like no other, and doesn’t ever she away from being exactly who she is at all times. She’s a feminist, she’s a proud Afro-Latina, and she’s a badass. And now she’s the best new artist to boot.

I mean, could an awards acceptance speech be any greater?

“I wanna thank my fans, Bardi Gang, because even when I’m wrong they be like, ‘She’s still right!'” she said. “And I wanna thank my haters too because they be downloading my stuff so they can hear it and talk crap about it, but it benefits me!”

Despite losing two Grammys earlier this year to Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble”, Cardi B gave a great speech — and even surprised fans by announcing an April release date for her premiere album, according to Rolling Stone.

“My album will be coming in April. Yessir, April. Stay tuned, motherfuckers,” Cardi B said.

She won both Best New Artist and Best New Hip-Hop Artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and opened the show with a medley of her singles and contributions, including “Bodak Yellow,” “Bartier Cardi,” and “No Limit” with G-Eazy, who joined her onstage during that part of the opening act.

All in all, Sunday night was a great night to be Cardi B! The Dominicana clearly deserved the awards she’s got and, well, even the haters have to recognize. If nothing else, we can all take a tip from her attitude: Love your haters as much as you love your fans, because they make you more driven and more successful too. Congrats, Cardi!
