Irene Franco

Irene Franco is a young woman of color of Guatemalan and Mexican descent from the West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona where she studies journalism with a focus on social welfare at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication.

She is committed to diversity and inclusion efforts and this is demonstrated through her recognition from the ProPublica’s Diversity Scholarship and the NAHJ Facebook Journalism Project Scholarship.

She was recently published in Teen Vogue where she provided insight regarding the resilience of the Latinx community. 

She currently interns on Capitol Hill at the U.S. House of Representatives.
