Hope everyone is enjoying their start to this new year. I believe 2015 will be a time of growth for us all.
Recently I was going through my daily emails and came upon one titled, “The Utility Trend is Coming.” This was news to me: I didn’t think the utility trend (functional clothes, like overalls, popularized in the 1940s) had gone anywhere. This has been one trend that has remained and continues to be seen across the country.
Utility fashion is a mixture of daring to be bold and recalling the look of WWII working women. I love my camo/utility wear and intend on wearing it as long as possible. I would dare to say camo is so versatile it has almost become a neutral: camo can be worn with plaid, leopard, and a wide array of other prints.
Just recently I was at Target and picked up the perfect pair of camo skinnies. The material is super soft and they are quite comfortable—I grabbed them immediately, as they were the last pair in my size. They also had some online items on clearance, some of which were sold out, but I did find a pair of mens’ shorts at a great price (see below). Ladies, don’t be afraid to try menswear! I have several items that I have purchased and have styled them fabulously.
I have several pieces that I’ve purchased throughout the years and I’m so glad I’ve kept them all. Today I’ll share with you some of my favorite pieces, and remember, eBay is ALWAYS a great place to find utility wear at affordable prices.
I’m loving the look of this vintage jacket. Yes, it’s menswear, but ladies, we can totally rock it.
Utility wear includes camo, khaki, and green, among other things. This jumpsuit looks comfortable and fun to wear.
This chic scarf is sure to keep you warm.
This look had to grow on me. I have a jean jumpsuit, and when I first wore it, it reminded me of a gas attendant—a fashionable one though!
This utility jacket can be styled many ways. I have one I purchased from Old Navy several years ago and I have style it with shorts, skirts, jeans, and summer dresses.
These are available online only. Style for a comfortable look with flats, or for an edgier look with a bootie or heels.
I ordered these and they look fab (and at $9.98 they’re a steal). I’m styling them with Birks for daywear and heeled sandals for a night out with the hubs. My darling husband also has a pair, and he styled them with his pineapple tee. (limited sizes available)
They have a selection of camo wear for the entire family.
One of my favorite eBay finds. Army jacket, added a mink pin to give it a feminine touch.
An old Zara purchase.
