I always say how much I look forward to Thanksgiving. The family comes together for the fun and food, and we don’t need to worry about making sure we got all the regalos right. But now that it’s December, I can’t say that anymore. It’s time to stress about who’s spending what on who, whether we bought the right gift, who in the family is still feuding, and to be sure to give my cousin a gift receipt for that bikini in case she dumps her fiancé and cancels the honeymoon to Costa Rica.
To avoid the fact that Thanksgiving is over and the New York winter is setting in, I made a last minute decision to jet down to my timeshare in Miami. For these few days I’ll be able to forget that droves of shoppers have taken over Midtown and Macy’s in Herald Square. Although there is still that giant blow-up Santa perched next to me at the pool here to remind me that the season has arrived.
And while lounging at the pool, what better way to help me avoid the onset of the holiday shopping frenzy than with a cocktail! In true Miami style, I wanted to share a recipe for Cuba’s signature cocktail—the mojito. This version adds cranberry for a holiday twist, so that I don’t totally forget about that shopping list.
