These Are All The Latinos Who’ve Ever Won an Oscar for Acting

The 90th annual Academy Awards are this Sunday and if you’re hoping to see Latinos honored for their creative achievements – you’ll be waiting a while. That’s because this year, as in year’s past, Latinos are severely underrepresented or just plain ignored in most categories. We’ve got a few like Guillermo del Toro who’s Shape of Water leads with the most nominations (13) and Chile’s best foreign film entry, A Fantastic Woman. And though people are excited about Coco being recognized, even if it does win, no actual Latino will receive the Oscar. But, instead of focusing on how much we’re not going to win on Sunday, let’s take a look back at past victories Latinos have scored in their acting achievements at the Oscars.
