Music Festival in the Vineyards
The weather was perfect, the crowds manageable, and the music rocked.
We had the good fortune to attend the 28th Annual BR Cohn Fall Music Festival weekend in late September.
The weekend kicked off with delicious charity auction dinner by acclaimed winecounty celebrity Chef Mark Stark. We celebrated, dined and raised charity funds among the beautiful back drop of the lush Sonoma Valley cabernet sauvignon vineyards and century-old olive grove. It was a beautiful evening that was capped off by a solo performance by, John Waite, former bassist and lead singer of British rock group The Babys and supergroup Bad English.
We returned for the weekend’s concert on the beautiful grassy amphitheater type seating surrounded by vineyards. We were seated under an amazing and old oak tree that provided wonderful shade through out the day. We nibbled on wine country fare and sipped on 2013 BR Cohn Sauvignon Blanc while listening to the concert festival lineup.
The first act was local talent Curly Wolf, followed by Paul Barre, Fred Tackett & Kenny Gradney of Little Feat, John Waite, Los Lonely Boys, The Wall Flowers and headliners Melissa Etheridge and Peter Frampton. All of the acts were amazing, however, the highlight for us was the grammy award-winning artists Los Lonely Boys. We were so excited to hear their award-winning songs “Don’t Walk Away”, “Oye Mamacita”, and “Heaven”. We love their Texican Rock n’ Roll style, combining elements of rock and roll, blues, soul, country, and Tejano.
The BR Cohn Music festival was founded by a Bruce Cohn, winery owner, philanthropist and legendary Doobie Brothers manager. Blessed with success as both an artist manager (of rock icons the Doobie Brothers) and entrepreneur (as founder-proprietor of the award-winning B.R. Cohn Winery and Olive Oil Company, as well as Olive Hill Estate vineyards), Bruce Cohn has long understood the importance of giving back. His philanthropic efforts – benefiting children, veterans and the California communities near his home – have largely been intertwined with his other great passions: music, wine and golf.
The event was a world-class, wine country experience. The special day was shared with my dear friends and new memories were made. We look forward to seeing the rumors of next year’s lineup confirmed…it won’t be one to be missed.
