#MotivationalMonday Favorites: Lin-Manuel Miranda on SNL

How do you get to SNL? His stunt playing a Hamilton song for the White House when they expected a song from his Broadway show, The Heights preceded a successful run unlike any other: two Grammys, Emmy, MacArthur “Genius” Award, and three Tony Awards, culminating in the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2016. It wasn’t an overnight success though, after all it took seven years to write Hamilton. It was time for Nuyorican Lin-Manuel Miranda to host #SNL this past Saturday and there were brilliant moments! Saturday Night Live…as Miranda expressed: “The ‘Show’ is the spot every artists/actor/producer aspires performing.” When are you are asked to open Saturday Night Live. Done, Fini, case closed. As seen below in the opening monologue, Miranda enters with Gene Kelly moves and innocent optimism while he hammers home the importance of registering to vote during this election cycle. Top moments were: Opening with “Not Throwing Away My Shot” remix, witty banter with Lorne Michaels about Hamilton tickets, and his Donald Trump diss.
