In case it isn’t clear: we LIVE for Rita Moreno. At 86 years old, the Puerto Rican actress is still just as talented and sassy as ever. As the first Latina to ever win an Oscar for a major acting category, she’s a damn icon. And at this year’s 90th annual Academy Awards, Moreno reminded us of the night that she made history by rocking the same dress to tonight’s Oscars as the one she wore when she won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Anita in West Side Story in 1962.
A dress so nice she rocked it twice 💁 That’s right, @TheRitaMoreno just arrived at the @TheAcademy awards in the same dress she wore during her iconic #oscars win in 1962 👑 | 📷: @People pic.twitter.com/LCEF2EuwQ5

When asked about the dress, Moreno was surprised that it was in such good condition. “I would think that it would tarnish… It’s been hanging in my closet.”

On a night where so few Latinos are nominated for Oscars – and none are nominated in major acting categories – we needed this moment from Moreno. It’s as if she’s reminding the Academy (and us), that our community has talent, skill, and deserves recognition and opportunity. She’s giving us a beautiful moment of pride at a time where our invisibility is infuriating.
Now, I’m not the only one who’s obsessed with Moreno’s look. Fans on Twitter showed their affection for the queen and her chosen look.
Let’s talk about Rita Moreno right now… she rewore her 1962 Oscar dress tonight and she still SLAYS!

Slays is an understatement!
Rita Moreno showed up in the same dress she wore when she won her Oscar and I can't imagine being even 1/5 as divine😍

Divine on so many levels!
So much for the 'Never repeat a dress' rule – Rita Moreno rocks the one she wore at the #Oscars in 1962.

Yes! Proof we should throw that stupid rule out the window.
