Hi everybody! Some of you might recognize me from HipLatina’s Facebook or Instagram pages, but just in case you’re like, “Who dis?” I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mariela Rosario and I’m the Editor-in-Chief of HipLatina.com. I joined the team a little over 6 months ago and decided that it’s time for all of you beautiful readers to get to know a little bit more about me so I’m going to be writing a weekly mom blog! I’m an editor and writer and I’ve been creating content for the Latinx community here in the United States for almost 10 years. I started my career at Latina magazine and since then launched MamasLatinas.com and Vivala.com. I also have a personal blog called Guerrilla Mama that you can check out.

Most importantly, I’m a wife and a mama to a gorgeous 2-year-old boy named Luca Tomas. He was born on St. Patrick’s day in 2015 and my life has never been the same. From poopy diapers to choo-choo trains, my family is always on the run. My husband is a TV and documentary producer so his schedule also keeps on on our toes. Add a big ol’ rescued hound dog to the mix, and it goes without saying that I have my hands full.

I know a lot of you out there can relate so I figured we can all get together and commiserate about the highs and lows of being a modern Latina momma these days. From juggling our careers with extracurricular activities and trying to keep the home from looking like a bomb just went off, it can be tough. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world! And I’m sure you wouldn’t either. I’d love to hear what from our loyal readers about your funniest, saddest, and most thrilling experiences of motherhood and I’ll be sharing mine here every Monday too. So, come along for the ride, ALL ABOARD. Chugga chugga, chugga chugga … (can you tell my son is obsessed with trains right now?) choo choo!

Next week, I’ll be talking about the differences between how we Latinas raise boys versus girls.
