The Lifetime docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly” has been a brutal one to witness. For those who have watched it, it’s an eye-opening look into sex crimes committed by the artist for years. For those who have yet to see, be warned, it’s extremely triggering. It also looks like law officials have watched the series and are finally taking action.

Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Georgia is now investigating R. Kelly by interviewing several women that were featured on the show, accusing the artist of sexual harassment to sexual abuse.

While CNN reports that the DA’s office has no comment on their investigation, Gerald Griggs, the lawyer representing the family of Joycelyn Savage (who’s been living with R. Kelly and is estranged from her family) said that the DA’s office reached out to them soon after the show aired.

Griggs also told CNN that he provided the DA with “a list of witnesses in regards to events that allegedly took place in Kelly’s house in the northern Atlanta suburb of Johns Creek in 2017.”

But the investigation in Georgia isn’t the only possible case in the country that is in the works against R. Kelly, Cook County State’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx, in Chicago, is urging people to come forward.

“We cannot seek justice without you,” she said, according to ABC News. “I was sickened as a survivor. I was sickened as a mother. I was sickened as a prosecutor.”

Attorney’s for R. Kelly have denied the accusations and allege they will sue Lifetime for airing the series. According to Billboard, his lawyers have “audio recordings that show Lifetime knew ‘some of the girls are lying, but that the budget was too high to turn back now.'”

Aaliyah’s mother Diane Haughton is also denying several statements made on the show particularly those concerning her daughter.

“The woman and so-called backup singer that describes seeing, meeting or ever breathing the same air as my daughter, Aaliyah, is lying and is a liar,” Haughton said in a statement to E! News. “My husband and I were always on tour with her and at interviews and every place she went throughout her entire career. Whoever this woman is, I have never seen her before anywhere on planet earth, until now.”
