Some Conservative Christians Think AOC Is a Bruja

Witch, defined by Merriam- Webster, means: “one that is credited with usually malignant supernatural powers especially a woman practicing usually black witchcraft often with the aid of a devil or familiar; an ugly old woman; a charming or alluring girl or woman; and an adherent of Wicca (which is a form of modern paganism, especially a tradition founded in England in the mid 20th century and claiming its origins in pre-Christian religions). Now that you know all of that, does Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fit that profile? She’s definitely charming, but evil? That is what some conservative Christians believe. Also, we know that brujas aren’t evil so there is that too!
It’s a plain old fact that Republicans don’t like Ocasio-Cortez. She’s stirring the pot in Washington D.C., and for a good reason — that place is corrupt and has only gotten worse since Trumo took office. But to call Ocasio-Cortez a witch? That’s just laughable. Patheos.com called the people who believe Ocasio-Cortez to be a witch “gullible Christians.” Reportedly, Dave Kubal, president of the Religious Right group Intercessors for America, held a monthly prayer call earlier this year and said he saw Ocasio-Cortez’s historic win during the midterm elections as a shift toward evil.
“The good news about the midterm elections is that there is a great opportunity for evil to be exposed in the days and weeks to come,” Kubal told his congregation, according to RightWing.org. “It’s been widely publicized that there is a coven of witches that cast spells on President Trump 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This particular coven is found in the southern portion of New York City.” He goes on to say: “So, right in the middle of all of this, the southern district, in the middle of where these witches are doing the 24/7 spell-casting, we find the territory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Her district is in the center of all of this going on. Is this a coincidence? Maybe…Is there an evil thread running through this area, trying to dispel diabolical power?”
There is a fine line between paranoia and being utterly delusional, so where does that leave Kubal and his followers? Who cares! Obviously, it’s insane to jump to the conclusion that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is part of a coven, but what’s hilarious is that if she were a witch building a group looking to bring change to the world, people would 10/10 want to join.
Let’s just say, for argument’s sake, that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is a bruja. One who is revolutionizing the way politics are done in D.C., and that in some way, she will bring about the demise of Trump. The extraordinary part is that the coven has already formed, just ask those who voted for her.
