Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ Album Is FINALLY on Spotify and Apple Music — This Is Worth Celebrating!

I just got back Sunday morning from a magical vacation in Marrakesh, Morocco and I’ve been playing Beyoncé back-to-back ever since. That’s because last week — while I was still traveling — Queen Bee blessed us with her new Netflix’s documentary Homecoming and a complimentary album of the same name. The doc covers the singer’s Coachella — we mean Beychella performance — while the album includes all the songs performed live. Just when I thought she couldn’t be anymore generous she decides to FINALLY drop Lemonade on Spotify and Apple Music. I legit screamed out loud when I first learned the news.
The truth is, that before today, Lemonade was ONLY available for streaming on TiDAL, which is co-owned by Bey and Jay-Z. In fact, ever since the album dropped Spotify included a disclaimer on Beyoncé’s artist page that read: “Beyoncé’s album Lemonade is not currently available on Spotify. We are working on it and hope to have it soon.” I didn’t think this was actually ever going to happen though.
I’m a die-hard Spotify fan. I’ve been using it since the days where you had to be invited to have a membership and I refuse to get rid of my account, especially since the streaming service has only gotten better. This is NOT an ad for Spotify but my long-term commitment to Spotify is why I still don’t have the Lemonade album on my phone — before today I mean. Don’t get me wrong — I’ve heard it and quite a few times. But to know that now all I have to do is get on my Spotify account to hear — you better believe I’m only going to be listening to Bey for the next few days — weeks even.
The funny thing is, I don’t think any of us saw this coming. I definitely didn’t expect Homecoming — that literally felt like a gift from the Bey hive gods. And even though Bey and Jay-Z dropped Everything is Love on Spotify and Apple Music, Bey also included in their standout single “Nice” the lyrics: “If I gave two fucks, two fucks about streaming numbers/ Would have put Lemonade up on Spotify.”
But it’s totally Beyoncé to do the unexpected and I’m beyond grateful for it.
When Homecoming first dropped, my first thought was wait, which Lemonade songs are on it? While it does include some of the album’s tracks, I was quick to realize that it was missing some of my faves including “Sorry” and “All Night.” Now we have it and the best part is this is far from over. Don’t forget that Homecoming is part of a three-part deal with Netflix, meaning there are two more projects left that she’ll be dropping any day now and I can hardly wait! In the meantime, I’ll be attempting to do the #BeforeILetGoChallenge until then!
