15 Latinx Music Collabs to Check Out This Summer

Music is like a lot of things in life. The more you collaborate and share, the better things get. Just think about your favorite artists and how they blew everyone’s mind when they joined forces with another great creator on an out-of-this-world track. Artists are meant to inspire each other, and when they do and decide to then make something great together, the result is fire!

That being said, we wanted to share 15 music collaborations, featuring Latinx artists, and definitely worth taking a listen (or several) to. All of these songs are living on the Billboard charts right now, which speaks to how mixing and blending artists’ different sounds, styles, and influences is a winning combination.

“Con Calma (Remix),” Daddy Yankee and Katy Perry Ft. Snow

Everything from the ’90s is back, and this has included music. Many new hits of today use samples from the hits of that decade; you get the nostalgia from the past, with the excitement of seeing how the sound and song is reworked and made fresh again. Just take Daddy Yankee’s bop, “Con Calma.” He throws Puerto Rican reggaeton on Canadian rapper Snow’s #1 1992 hit “Informer,” and throws in California girl Katy Perry on the remix for a Hot 100 hit for 2019.

“Calma (Alicia Remix),” Pedro Capó, Alicia Keys, and Farruko

Summer is almost here and we can’t stop thinking about sunny days, gorgeous beaches, and chill vibes. Taking things con calma is a thing in the music world. Another hit that leveled up by adding another star to a remix is Pedro Capó’s “Calma,” with Farruko. The song was great on its own but made even better with the addition of Alicia Keys’ soothing, summery voice.

“El Chivo,” Berner Ft. T3r Elemento

Off his 2019 album of the same name, San Francisco Mexicano Berner’s song “El Chivo” brings together rap and norteño music, with the help of T3r Elemento’s Kris Nava. The song is all about marijuana, which isn’t surprising since Berner is co-owner of the Cookies; the sound is bouncy, chill, Mexican, and hella cool.

“Lost in the Middle of Nowhere (Spanish Remix),” Kane Brown Ft. Becky G

Just like we saw with “El Chivo,” music evolves and creates cool new sounds when artists of two different genres collaborate together (it’s also a cool way to introduce one artist’s fan base to another artist). We are totally digging Becky G’s collab with country star Kane Brown on the track “Lost in the Middle of Nowhere.” There is an English version, but you know we had to show you the Spanish remix!

“Con Altura,” ROSALIA, J Balvin, and El Guincho

Note: We are not responsible for you wanting to end all future sentences with “con altura,” or suddenly wanting to practice flamenco moves. Or playing this song 1,000 times. You can blame that on ROSALÍA and her super-catchy jam, “Con Altura.” Adding to the song’s awesomeness are El Guincho and J Balvin.

“You Stay,” DJ Khaled Ft. Meek Mill, J Balvin, Lil Baby, and Jeremih

Ever given your all to a guy who didn’t deserve it (girl, you know we all have)? Have you ever shown loyalty to a partner who didn’t respond with the same loyalty? Then you need to turn up the volume on this song. “You Stay” is another hit by DJ Khaled, this time with J Balvin, Meek Mill, Jeremih, and Lil Baby. Added bonus? The jam samples the iconic salsera La India’s classic “No Me Conviene” (which features the also equally iconic Tito Nieves).

Madonna. Maluma. Two artists who are so famous, they go by one name. These two powerhouses joined forces to give us the bilingual hit “Medellin” (which is Maluma’s hometown). The first time we heard Madonna sing in Español was in 1986’s “La Isla Bonita,” and she is back in 2019, inviting everyone, including Maluma to “ven conmigo, let’s take a trip.”

Think about Sean Paul’s music. Now think of J Balvin’s music. How amazing would it be if they did a song together?! Well, they did! “Contra La Pared” is the duo’s 2019 jam, which went to #1 on Billboard’s Latin Digital Sales chart (and has been on the chart for 11 weeks).

“Guayo,” Zion & Lennox, Anuel AA and Haze

Zion y Lennox, along with Anuel AA and Haze, proves to be a winning combination for their reggaeton song “Guayo.” The jam, released on May 17, has appeared on more than one of Billboard’s song charts, and the video has already received 12 million views on YouTube.

Way too often, reggaeton songs objectify women and make them look like sex-crazy fiends who only live for the rapper in question. So, we are happy when we see songs about other topics and songs that showcase the artist’s softer side. “En Cero,” from Yandel, Sebastian Yatra, and Manuel Turizo, is about putting it all out there for the love of your life. It’s all about being vulnerable, honest, and romantic — feelings expressed while still being a catchy, danceable song. So refreshing!

Luis Fonsi knows a good collaboration can become a worldwide hit (hello, “Despacito”). So he struck for gold (or platinum) twice with “Date La Vuelta,” which sees the Puerto Rican crooner join forces with Colombian Sebastian Yatra, and fellow Puerto Rican Nicky Jam. The song has been on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs list for 5 weeks and has a whopping 45 million views on YouTube.

You know you’ve heard songs so good that it will have you singing the same word (or words) over and over again. Add “Baila, Baila, Baila” to this list.
