Colombian singer Maluma is giving fans an insider look into his professional and personal life in “Maluma: Lo Que Era, Lo Que Soy, Lo Que Sere” available for free on Youtube and YouTube Premium as an extended cut featuring exclusive content.
The 90-minute film was directed by Dominican film and music video director Jessy Terrero, and takes fans on the journey with Maluma from his early days singing in quinceañeras in Colombia to achieving worldwide success.
“A lot of people think that everything I have was given to me, that everything happened overnight,” Maluma says in the trailer. “But there’s a story behind it… I gave it my all. I have no regrets.”

The 25-year-old singer — whose real name is Juan Luis Londoño Arias — discusses his humble beginnings in Medellin, Colombia along with exclusive interviews with his parents, Marlli Arias and Luis Londoño, older sister Manuela, family members, and longtime friends.
Maluma shares how soccer was his first love and why he gave it up despite nine years of practice to pursue a career in music.
“That was my dream, I wanted to be a soccer player,” he recalls in the film saying his family was shocked by his decision to stop. “My dad almost had a heart attack.”
He also opens up about the impact his parent’s divorce had on him and how his father’s move to Bogotá led him to want to take on the responsibility of being the provider.
“I had two parents that filled me with love from day one. I was the man of the house at 10 years old. I had to comfort my mother and my sister,” he says. “It was a time of chaos, the family was in a kind of fog.”
Before announcing the release of the film, he disconnected completely by deactivating his Instagram account for two hours to the dismay of his more than 40 million followers. Once he reactivated he promoted a new hashtag -#MalumaLoQueSoy – to go along with the announcement and now it’s been about 24 hours and the film is already nearing 1 million views.
“It was important to show how I came up [began my career] because I think that is one of the most special moments of an artist, the humble beginning and being on stage,” Maluma explains. “I wanted to do it this way to show what I have gone through to get to where I am now. For a long time now, I had wanted to make a documentary that was raw and showed the truth behind the scenes of my career,” he told ET MÁS.
