Grammy-nominated singer Kehlani is venturing into the world of fashion with the release of her new line, TSNMI, which includes gender-inclusive options for both adults and babies.

The 24-year-old R&B singer launched the line today showcasing a gender inclusive style that includes windbreakers, t-shirts, hoodies, tracksuit pants, hats, socks, and onesies. The colorful line features tye-dye patterns and bright color blocking evoking the vibrancy of summer as well as a nod to her California roots.

The Oakland-born singer-songwriter, who is a mix of Black, White, Native American, Filipino, Mexican, and Spanish, identifies as queer and welcomed a daughter in March named Adeya Nomi with Javie Young-White.

In the promos for the line, shot by Brick Howze, Kehlani holds her newborn wearing a bright yellow onesie and orange beanie from the collection. The items range in price from $80 to $20 and it goes up to XXXL.

Kehlani’s baby isn’t the only personal touch featured in the collection since the songstress has been open about her sexuality and a vocal advocate for the LGBTQIA community.

“I also saw a lot of discomfort with the use of the word ‘queer,’ hinting that it’s used for folks to run away from identifying with a more ‘solidified’ term like bi/lesbian/gay/pan,” she said. “My response is: Whatever makes you feel your safest, in your truest identity, you should identify as such without being policed by the same community you are supposed to feel most safe with,” she told NYLON.

With her 2017 queer anthem “Honey” she quickly became one of the most visible and well-known LGBTQIA artists followed by “Nights Like This,” her third single off her latest mixtape While We Wait. “Nights Like This” has received critical praise and the video already has nearly 30 million views on Youtube. Forbes described it as “a strong start to not only Kehlani’s 2019, but also for bisexual and queer stories in mainstream hip-hop and R&B.”

In addition to her music and clothing line, she’s also ventured into the tech industry with health and wellness startup app, Flora, which creates challenges to promote healthy living and rewards users with coins they can exchange for prizes.

“Bridging the gap between my career, activism and my audience is important to me as a next step,” she said in a press release. “I look forward to creating positive change and making strides in tech.”

Now it seems she’s bringing that same intention to fashion.
