There’s a Kickstarter Campaign for a Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Action Figure

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is inspirational, to say the least. She made history as the youngest person to be elected into Congress, she’s a woman who studied hard, worked hard, and defeated all odds by winning last year’s primary election in Queens, New York. Now, she’s our queen on Capitol Hill.  So, how can you encapsulate all of this inspiration and empowerment that radiates from one single woman to share with the rest of the world? For starters, you can put her in doll form!

FCTRY, a small Brooklyn-based product design studio, created the first AOC doll. But it needs your help if you’d like to see it become a reality — perhaps just in time for the holiday season.

The company has already started a Kickstarter campaign so they can begin full production of the doll. FCTRY has made other dolls based on politicians, including former President Barack Obama, Senators Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders.

“We’re toymakers, not prophets, so take what we say with a grain of salt,” they state on the Kickstarter campaign page. “But, we’ve got a pretty good track record of spotting real-life heroes in the making and from where we sit, AOC has the makings of a legend. So we’re doing what we do best and turning her into an action figure. Our mission is to create fun, beautiful toys that depict real-life role models in a relatable way. We’ve got nothing against superheroes or cartoon characters (really we don’t!), but we believe that whether you’re a child or an adult, we all need to connect to heroes who inspire us in a way that feels attainable.”

Ultimately, we can see young girls loving the doll. It’s not every day you see a Latina action figure that represents a strong work ethic, fierceness, and Democracy. The company has already reached its $15,000 goal with a whopping $27,896 already pledged. The doll retails for $20.

“We have the know-how to produce and deliver it, which is backed by our long track record of delivering on all our Kickstarter promises,” FCTRY states on their page. “The only question is whether the world is ready for AOC.”
