At this point, we should all know that infertility does not discriminate. According to the most recent statistics, as many as one in every eight couples in the United States struggle with infertility, and that includes many of our favorite Latina celebrities. We recently spoke with fertility specialist, Dr. Fahimeh Sasan who is the founding physician of Kindbody fertility clinics and she told us that 20 percent of women over the age of 35 actually experience premature ovarian decline. Since women are born with all of the eggs they will ever have, each passing year we naturally become less fertile.
So for many celebrities and other women who choose to hold off on having children until later in life, the risk of infertility increases that much more. It’s really not a huge surprise that many celebrities end up undergoing fertility treatments once they do finally decide to have children. For some though, it’s hard to speak up about it because there is still so much stigma and shame surrounding the topic. It often takes a lot of courage for a public figure to be open and honest about their fertility struggles, but these 10 Latina celebrity celebrities did just that.wp_*posts
Lilliana Vazquez
TV personality, E! host, and style expert Lilliana Vazquez, who is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent, recently announced that she is pregnant with her first child and used the opportunity to spread awareness about infertility in the Latinx community. Lilliana tried to get pregnant for six years, undergoing multiple rounds of in vitro fertilization before eventually getting pregnant at 41 years old.wp_*posts

Dominican singer Natti Natasha got pregnant with her first child in 2020. She and her husband Raphy Pina had been battling infertility for many months as a result of some issues stemming from cysts Natti had removed from her uterus and a fallopian tube she had removed. Natti, who was 34 years old when she conceived, also underwent multiple rounds of IVF and was at one point told she would likely not be able to have children.

Puerto Rican actress and influencer Adamari López struggled with infertility issues after battling breast cancer. In her book Amando, she revealed that prior to conceiving her daughter Alaïa in 2015, she suffered a dangerous ectopic pregnancy (when a fertilized egg grows outside the uterus) and endured two failed rounds of IVF. wp_*posts

Before getting pregnant with her twins Moroccan and Monroe, iconic singer Mariah Carey ,who is part Venezuelan, suffered a miscarriage which led to her discovering her fertility issues. “The main thing I did…was to go on progesterone like every month,” Mariah said in an interview with Barbara Walters in 2011. “And then when I was pregnant, I had to stay with the progesterone for 10 weeks. The fabulous Mexican-American actress Constance Marie known for her work in Selena and The George Lopez show opened up about her struggles with infertility back in 2009, shortly after giving birth to her daughter Luna Marie. She revealed that she had battled infertility issues for more than thee years. It took rounds of fertility drugs, intrauterine insemination and two failed rounds of IVF for her to conceive. “I was 38½ years old when we started trying to have a baby,” she told PEOPLE at the time. “I thought it would be no problem, but the 3½ years it took us was the most difficult period of my life.”wp_*posts

Actress Jordana Brewster who was born in Panama to Brazilian parents, was very open about her infertility struggles prior to having her two boys via surrogate. “I couldn’t carry a baby…at first, I was scared. I had no idea what it entailed. Then I started researching agencies. I met with one called Agency for Surrogacy Solutions. Most of the people who worked there had used surrogacy to have a child or been a surrogate themselves, so I felt like they really got it. [Surrogacy] taught me a lot to have to rely on someone else to carry my baby for me, because I’m such a private and self-sufficient person. Puerto Rican actress Roselyn Sanchez underwent six rounds of IVF before finally getting pregnant for the second time at 44 years old. She also had fertility treatments with her first child, but she was able to get pregnant faster the first time, when she was still in her 30s. “We tried [to conceive naturally] for at least three years [before Sebi] and it was a shock,” Roselyn told PEOPLE when she was pregnant with her second child in 2017. “I have four siblings…my mom is very fertile. I knew that I had endometriosis, but with me, it wasn’t an indication that I was going to have a problem with conceiving because my tubes were clean and my ovaries were clean. It was devastating,” she said.
