Abraham Quintanilla Is Releasing a Memoir 25 Years After Selena’s Death
Countless stories have been written about Selena Quintanilla
Countless stories have been written about Selena Quintanilla. But her father Abraham Quintanilla claims that none of the authors had been authorized to speak about Selena or the family. Now Abraham wants everyone to know that he will be releasing a memoir 25 years since the death of his daughter. On Feb. 27, he announced on his Facebook that he is just finished writing his autobiography and is planning on releasing it later this year.
“Today I finally finished the last chapter of my book that I have been writing for the last few months Nancy De Los Santos was the ghostwriter that helped me write the book,” Abraham wrote. “Nancy was a co-producer on the “SELENA” movie and is from Los Angeles Ca. Since my daughter Selena died I was wanting to write a book. The public might not be aware that there are about 21 unauthorized books written about Selena and none of the writers ever interviewed Selena. And I feel that the most ugly book was written by Telemundo’s Maria Celeste Ararras the woman for reasons which I can’t understand took sides with the woman who killed Selena. My family and I and Chris Perez know exactly what happened, as l mentioned non[e] of the writers or even Maria Celeste ever interviewed Selena. I will release the book later this year.”
While Selena’s legacy continues to be celebrated each year, this being the 25th year, it feels like there’s a lot more going on with her brand. From the Netflix movie to another MAC Cosmetics collection set to be released, her memory remains in the limelight. Just yesterday, People magazine released a new issue with Selena gracing the cover.
De Los Santos, who, as Abraham said, also worked on the Selena movie, said she is thrilled to be writing this book alongside him.
“I’m honored to be assisting Abraham Quintanilla on his memoir,” she wrote. “His journey in music and his personal life’s road has many twists and turns, hilarious experiences, low points, great success, and of course, tragedy. At its core, it’s the deep love the Quintanilla family has for each other and their faith in God that lifts them every day to honor Selena’s memory and legacy. Mr. Q’ [s] story will surprise and comfort all who know the Quintanilla familia and who love Selena. #SelenaForever.”
Perhaps we will discover so much more about this family that we don’t know already. Will you be interested in reading his book?
