As a representative of Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has to split her time between New York City and D.C. She’s always either working in the capital or speaking with her constituents back home. This weekend she returned to the Bronx and Queens for a variety of events including celebrating Black History Month in Queens. But there was one moment in particular that caught our eye.

Ocasio-Cortez was walking around in her hood of Parkchester in the Bronx when an abuelita approached her. Now, for those of you who don’t know much about how people conduct themselves in New York City, all we can say is that people speak their mind 24/7 and will approach you regardless of if you’re a random person, a celebrity, or a politician. And, for those of you not familiar with abuelitas in general, Latin grandmothers do not hold back — nor should they. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was merely walking down the street when an abuelita approached her and at first, could not believe that she saw the politician on the street.

“Is that you?” the abuelita asked her.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez said on her Insta-story, that the abuelita was so sweet and so funny, and gave her encouraging words including “we’re going to keep going forward.” Then she told her a little more.

“You look a little chubbier on TV, but you look good,” the abuelita told her.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez could not stop laughing. Leave it up to abuelita to tell us the truth!

Aside from talking to ladies on the street, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez also informed her followers the location of where she gets her jewelry in the Bronx. Stars Jewelers is the place where she bought the gold hoops that she wore to her historical day that she was sworn into Congress.

In other Rep. Ocasio-Cortez news, some media outlets are still trying to locate where she lives in New York. Now that they already outed her D.C. apartment, they now want to know her current address in the city, but why?! She tweeted that she will never disclose it, especially after being targeted by a domestic terrorist who was just arrested last week.

“I still live in my hood and literally Instagrammed from my apartment tonight,” she tweeted yesterday. “A man was just arrested last week with a stockpile of guns specifically trying to kill me & others, so yeah I’m not gonna disclose my personal address or tell people when I move. Sorry!”
