Boricua icon Bad Bunny has been on a roll lately, making history and uplifting Puerto Rican history and culture every chance he gets. Now he’s making history yet again at the headliner for the halftime show in 2026. His historic “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí” residency at El Choli has massively boosted La Isla de Encanto’s economy, contributing around $700 million throughout its three month course. Benito’s final “Una Más” show of the residency was streamed around the globe through Amazon Music, Prime Video, and Twitch and broke several streaming records. Now, Bad Bunny is set to take the stage in one of the most-watched after he was announced as the Super Bowl LX halftime show performer. El Conejo Malo has added just one show in the US: the 2026 Super Bowl LX halftime show on February 8.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown,” Bad Bunny said in a NFL statement. “This is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

This comes on the heels of Bad Bunny’s final concert of his “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí” residency at El Choli, which made history as the most-watched single-artist performance on Amazon Music. Featuring legendary guests including Marc Anthony, Jowell y Randy, Ivy Queen, Rubén Blades, Arcángel, Ñengo Flow, Residente, and Rauw Alejandro, the historic three-month residency took the island by the storm this summer and generated millions for Puerto Rico’s economy.

He recently commented on not wanting to perform in the U.S. for fear of ICE raids telling i-D it was a real concern. “But there was the issue of — like, f—ing ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.” Now he’s set to perform in one of the most-watched events in the U.S.

Super Bowl LX is set to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California in the Bay Area. Following the announcement, fans are looking forward to seeing what El Conejo Malo will perform and which special guests he’ll bring. Jay-Z, whose company Roc Nation is partnering with the NFL and Apple Music to produce the halftime show, praised Bad Bunny and said it is an honor to have him perform:

“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage,” Jay-Z said in a statement.

In an exclusive interview on Apple Music’s “Halftime Headliner Special” with Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden, Bad Bunny said he is thrilled to represent his native Puerto Rico and Latin music and culture on the Super Bowl stage:

“I’m really excited but this is making me feel so happy, because more than me for everyone else,” he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden. “I’m really excited for my friends, my family. Puerto Rico, all the Latino people around the world. I’m excited about my culture. I’m excited about everything, not just for me. You know what I’m saying.”
