It’s been a little over a year since Demi Lovato entered rehab for substance abuse and her road to recovery has been an incredible journey to witness. After an apparent overdose, Lovato was in rehab for three months and since then, the young actress and singer has continued to update fans on her journey of self-discovery and the latest involves “feeling renewed” after being baptized in the Jordan River, during a recent trip to Israel.
“I am an American singer. I was raised Christian and have Jewish ancestors. When I was offered an amazing opportunity to visit the places I’d read about in the Bible growing up, I said yes. There is something absolutely magical about Israel. I’ve never felt such a sense of spirituality or connection to God…something I’ve been missing for a few years now. Spirituality is so important to me… to be baptized in the Jordan river – the same place Jesus was baptized – I’ve never felt more renewed in my life. This trip has been so important for my well-being, my heart, and my soul,” she wrote in her Instagram caption about the experience. “I’m grateful for the memories made and the opportunity to be able to fill the God-sized hole in my heart. Thank you for having me, Israel.”

The moving post also comes weeks after she took to Instagram about coming to terms with her truth, her body, and the importance of not shying away from her imperfections. Lovato is seemingly on an ongoing journey of self-renewal, self-love, and self-care.
“I’m just literally sooooo tired of being ashamed of my body, editing it… so that others think I’m THEIR idea of what beautiful is, but it’s just not me,” she wrote on Instagram sharing an unedited photo of herself in a bikini. “I want this new chapter in my life to be about being authentic to who I am rather than trying to meet someone else’s standards. So here’s me, unashamed, unafraid and proud to own a body that has fought through so much and will continue to amaze me when I hopefully give birth one day.”
We love to see Demi thriving. You deserve it, girl!
