Netflix Series ‘Gentefied’ Announces Four New Cast Members for Season Two

Latinx representation on TV is not what it should be but Latinx shows are slowly on the rise and one of everybody’s favorites shows recently released an update. Streaming giant Netflix announced that the original series Gentefied has four new cast members added to the lineup for the much-anticipated second season. The series is executive produced by Honduran actress America Ferrera and stars Latinx talent including Julissa Calderon, Karrie Martin, Annie Gonzalez, Joseph Julian Soria and Carlos Santos. It is about a multi-generational Mexican-American family trying to live out their dreams in their Boyle Heights Los Angeles neighborhood in the face of gentrification.
The series is currently in production so you can likely expect more exciting updates throughout the year. There is no official premiere date but of course we’ll keep you posted once a date is set.
Season 2 of Gentefied experienced lengthy production delays due to the pandemic, but resumed filming a few months into 2021. The new season is expected to premiere late in 2021 or early in 2022, and will feature at least four new characters and is sure to bring another spate of relatable, emotionally intense and utterly hilarious moments. Here are the new faces fans can expect on the second season of Netflix’s Gentefied.

Melinna Bobadilla
Actress Melinna Bobadilla who was born in Los Angeles and identifies as Xicana will join the cast of Gentefied as Melinna Barragan, a non-profit lawyer who is committed to helping her community. Melinna previously acted in Season 7 of Orange is the New Black and in the anthology series Little America and you can see her in the upcoming short film For Rosa on HBO Max.

Clarissa Thibeaux

Actress Clarissa Thibeaux will join the cast as a Bree Solano, a successful advertising executive who just happens to also be queer. Clarissa previously appeared in the series Marvel’s Runaways and the film Ice Sharks.

Better Call Saul actor Manuel Uriza will play Ernesto Morales, the long-lost son of Pop, and the tio (and possibly the father to one of the three primos) to lead characters Erik, Ana and Chris. Manuel is a prolific actor who has appeared in TV series including Chicago P.D. and Snowfall, as well as the feature film, Rambo: Last Blood.
