Gloria Estefan and her family are coming to the Red Table Talk Facebook Watch series in the form of their own show. Yes, we’re a bit in shock and delight too!
By now, you’re probably familiar with Red Table Talk hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith — it’s the Facebook show that centers around deep conversations around critical issues. Each episode tackles a new topic relevant to our culture and features a different guest. Jada serves as the show’s host and wise leader. Depending on the topic, she, at times, includes her daughter, Willow Smith, mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and husband, Will Smith.
It’s a show that has grown immensely on Facebook. While the Facebook Watch platform is still gathering viewers for their other shows — Red Table Talk has been instrumental at making people take notice. That’s also why it’s not a surprise that Red Table Talk has been approved for a second season.
Now, that dynamic formula of a grounded family coming together to discuss real issues will be hosted by Gloria Estefan, alongside daughter and rising musician Emily Estefan and her niece Lili Estefan (host of El Gordo y la Flaca and technically Gloria’s husband Emilio Estefan biological niece).
“I’m incredibly excited to carry the ‘Red Table Talk‘ torch with my family in Miami,” Gloria said in a statement. “Jada and I have spoken about this a lot and feel my daughter, niece, and I can tackle issues important to us and our fans with a new and fresh voice. Jada has done this incredibly and continues to do with her family in their candid, intimate, and groundbreaking conversations at the iconic Red Table.”
We couldn’t be more on board with this, and that’s not a diss to Pinkett Smith at all because she has brought forth some much-needed discussion to race, relationships, culture, mental health, and more. However, we’re excited to see what Gloria brings to the table. We’re hoping she will call to attention issues that are affecting the Latinx community.
“I’m incredibly proud of ‘Red Table Talk,’ and thrilled to build upon this franchise with my family and with Gloria, Emily, and Lili,” Pinkett Smith said in a statement. “‘Red Table Talk‘ has created a space to have open, honest, and healing conversations around social and topical issues, and what’s most powerful for me is hearing people’s stories and engaging with our fans in such a tangible way on the Facebook Watch platform. I’m excited to see the Estefans put their spin on the franchise and take it to new places.”
One of Red Table Talk’s most-watched episode featured a one-on-one sit down with Jordyn Woods soon after the controversy surrounded her alleged hookup with Khloe Kardashian’s now ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson. The way Pinkett Smith got to the matter of the issue and was able to have the conversation of cheating in a real way was so engaging. She has a way of speaking about issues that makes everyone at ease, to be honest. It’s compelling, and we’re so excited for Gloria to bring forth essential conversations on Red Table Talk.
