We’ve been really hyped up about the new Jane the Virgin spin-off. Now we finally have a face and a name for the new show. Jacqueline Grace Lopez, who you may remember from East Los High, will star as Estela in the lead in Jane the Novela.
According to Deadline, the Jane the Virgin spin-off will be angled as a “soapy, telenovela-inspired anthology series in the tradition of Jane the Virgin, where each season is based on a different fictional novel ‘written by’ Jane Villanueva and narrated by the author herself.”
Lopez wrote on Instagram: “Beyond blessed.? It takes hard work. But this. T H I S. Makes it all worth it. ❤️❤️❤️ I cannot wait to share this story with you. The script is AMAZING. ?The producing team feels like family. ?I am the luckiest girl in the world. Let’s do this.”
Producers of the show include former “Jane the Virgin” producers such as Ben Silverman, Brad Silberling, and Gina Rodriguez.
Variety reports that Lopez’s character, Estela, is “an up and coming art curator who has spent years playing it safe and coloring within the lines. But a shocking secret changes everything and forces her to live a double life.”
Sounds intriguing right? We’re definitely excited to see this show and also what Lopez brings to the table. Aside from “East Los High,” she’s also been on “General Hospital,” and also Hulu’s “Light as a Feather.”
From the sleuthing we’ve done on Lopez’s Instagram, we can tell she loves sci-fi, comics, and singing! Here she is singing a song from A Star Is Born, which is fitting because she’s truly a star now.
Will you be watching this new Jane spinoff?
