Latino musicians are having their moment in the sun! If you turn on any Top 40 station, chances are you’ve heard Spanish tunes like J. Balvin’s “Mi Gente” blasting right alongside Miley Cyrus. No you’re not hearing wrong – you’re just experiencing a worldwide Latino takeover. It hasn’t been since the early 2000’s that we’ve seen this many Latino artists dominating in the global mainstream and it’s awesome! This summer has been particularly fruitful in terms of the accomplishments made by Latinos in music.

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s Song “Despacito” reached three billion views on YouTube, that’s right, three BILLION! It is the most watched video in the history of YouTube. It also tied for the number one song to sit on top of the Billboard Hot 100. And Daddy Yankee stays winning by also being the most streamed artist on Spotify. And can we talk about the rise of Reggaeton trap. Are you obsessed yet?

Well, the numbers don’t lie and as proof that Latinos have been dominating the charts, YouTube recently revealed that 15 of the 25 top songs of the summer were by Latino artists. That’s more than half! There are a few big winners who are absolutely killing it. Reggaeton artist Ozuna has the most songs on the list with four, followed by J Balvin with three, while Shakira, Maluma and Daddy Yankee each have two. You’ll find my favorite song from there as well as the full list below!
