Singer and rapper Lizzo is a force to be reckoned with. The 31-year-old is one of the most buzzed-about music artists right now, known for her fierce and unapologetic lyrics, her contagious confidence, and her refusal to give in to society’s standards of what a woman should look and act like. If you’ve had “Truth Hurts” on repeat all summer, you’ll be hyped to hear that on Tuesday Billboard announced that the song reached number one on the hot 100 list

Not only is this Lizzo’s first number one song but apparently this just made her one of six female rappers to have a number one song on the hot 100. What’s interesting about this is that “Truth Hurts” isn’t even a new song. It actually came out almost two years ago but made its big moment in 2019 especially after Lizzo’s epic BET Awards performance.

Lizzo was so hyped she shared the news to Instagram. Her caption for one of the posts was so inspiring and uplifting. “WE’RE NUMBER 1. THIS IS A W FOR ALL OF US. ANYBODY WHO EVER FELT LIKE THEY VOICE WASN’T HEARD. ANYBODY WHO FELT LIKE THEY WEREN’T GOOD ENOUGH. YOU ARE. WE ARE. CHAMPIONS. I LOVE YALL 3 MUCH. LIZZBIANS UNITE. SCROLL TO SEE MY ANNOYING ASS BLOOD SWEAT N TEARS,” she wrote.

Even Cardi B expressed her excitement over the news on Twitter.

Lizzo’s song reaching number one is significant for so many reasons. Her presence and her music send a very important message. That women who look like Lizzo deserve to be seen, deserve to be heard and to deserve to feel beautiful. That message has been said loud and clear in her music and has brought so much joy to so many women — brown and black plus-size women especially.

Our girl Lizzo is definitely 100% that bitch and it’s beyond inspiring to live in a time when women like her are finally getting the shine they’ve always deserved!
