Dominican Singer Natti Natasha Announces She’s Pregnant After Battling Infertility

Dominican singer Natti Natasha has officially announced that she is pregnant with her first child with her fiancé Raphy Pina. At the 2021 Premio Lo Nuestro, Natti cradled her belly while performing her hit with Prince Royce “Antes Que Salga El Sol” revealing her pregnancy for the first time. Following the reveal  PEOPLE Español shared the photos and exclusive interview with the “Sin Pijama” singer revealed that she is five months pregnant, after struggling with infertility for quite some time. At one point, 34-year-old Natti was even told that she would never be able to have kids.

Natti and her fiance Raphy announced their engagement at the beginning of 2021, but had apparently already been trying to get pregnant for months. The “Diosa” singer told PEOPLE that when they first decided they were ready to have a baby, she was told that she would need to do so via in vitro fertilization due to some cysts she had removed from her uterus, as well as having had one of her fallopian tubes removed. However, she did not explain what condition resulted in those surgeries.

Natti pursued the IVF treatments, but they were unsuccessful. “The hormones drive you crazy; you don’t know whether to laugh, cry. But I didn’t care. I was happy because I was doing it,” she said of the experience. At that point, her doctor told her she likely could not have children. “It gave me depression, I didn’t want to see anyone, I didn’t want to talk to anyone,” Natti told PEOPLE. “I felt like a total failure as a woman,” she said, adding that Raphy was supportive the entire time.

Then while on vacation in Puerto Rico Natti says she experienced some back pain while jet skiing. She later went to see a doctor about the pain and when they called back with the results of her blood work, she found out that she was pregnant. “The next morning, [Raphy] gets a call from the doctor directly. He stands to one side with his cell phone, opens his eyes and says, ‘You’re pregnant,'” she said.

“To women who go through a situation like this [I want to tell them] that they should not limit themselves to anything because of anyone’s opinion, or someone else’s mental limit. In this life everything is possible,” Natti said. “We are super happy. I am going to be a mother. I have never been in such a good mood in my life,” the singer said of her miracle pregnancy.

Since the PEOPLE exclusive came out on February 18, Natti has proudly been showing off her adorable baby bump on Instagram.
