Funky sunglasses and chic pajamas? Hell yes.
Let’s face it, the 50-year-old Mexicana has access to the most exclusive fashions and when she rocks them, heads turn. However, when it comes to looking her best, Hayek is like the rest of us and when she’s got to wear a tight dress she enlists the help of a good faja. On Tuesday, the actress posted a photo of her getting squeezed into a pretty tight corset.
Just looking at this photo makes me wince in discomfort – like girl, do you plan on sitting at all? I’m sure many of us have been in this position before. Like damn, we love food, but when it comes time for that special occasion, we’re fastening ourselves into a faja that will make us look snatched. I get it. And honestly, seeing Hayek show us the not-so-glam behind the scenes is kind of refreshing. At least we know we’re not alone.
However, while I’m not hating on the body shapewear industry, I’m hopeful that we can all get to a place where we’re enjoying the food and not worrying about squeezing our bodies into some uncomfortable contraption. Because you know what’s glamorous AF? Changing societal beauty expectations. However, considering the compression and shapewear industry is continuing to grow and expected to reach $5,576 million by 2022, it looks like we still have a long way to go.
