ABC is developing a TV show inspired by the musical legacy of Selena Quintanilla. While nothing has been completely finalized yet, there is a development deal in the works along with Campanario Entertainment and Scooter Braun’s SB Projects to create an untitled, music-driven scripted family drama inspired by the musical legacy of Selena Quintanilla. Braun is also the manager of Justin Bieber. The show will be written by Miguel Nolla who has written for ABC’s “Scandal.”

The TV show has also gotten the blessing of the Quintanilla family.

“We are excited to come on board as producers on an ABC music driven, Latino family drama that celebrates Selena’s musical legacy with a lead character whose music and career is inspired by Selena,” said Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga, according to a press release.

Braun had this to say about the show and the collaboration: “We are thrilled to team up with Campanario and ABC Studios and highlight the complexities and family dynamics of a Latin pop superstar coming to grips with the reality of her influence especially in today’s social climate. More importantly, we are proud to be collaborators on an incredibly timely show that focuses on a strong Latino family and represents the many Americans who we know will enjoy this series alongside us.”

Deadline provided a bit about the synopsis of the show:

“The untitled drama, which is not biographical, focuses on Alex Guerra, a chart-topping, award-winning pop star who has been estranged from her family for five years. She tries to pick up the pieces when a crisis forces her to return home to Texas, juggling a love triangle, the demands of her career, and the dark secrets of the family that she now desperately wants to win back.”

Do you think it sounds a little like a telenovela meets “Nashville”? We are definitely curious about it.
