Donald Trump‘s finances have long been scrutinized as the real estate mogul claims financial stability and wealth that the New York Times recently debunked. They released an expose over the weekend revealing that in 2016 and 2017 each, he paid just $750 in federal income taxes. It also showed that he took huge deductions including $70,000 to take care of his hair, yes that infamous hair. But the deception doesn’t end there, The Times reports the losses he claimed resulted in a tax refund of $73 million. The refund is under review.

Other key allegations include: he paid no such taxes in 11 of 18 years of tax records the publication reviewed, he $300 million in loans due by 2024, and Ivanka Trump helped lower the tax bill through large consulting fees for the Trump Organization which Trump wrote off.

Latinx on social media quickly came for him with many pointing out not only between what working class people pay but what undocumented immigrants pay in comparison.  “Undocumented immigrants pay more than $11 billion in taxes every year,” wrote activist and author Julissa Arce in an Instagram post. “⁣Trump is not the only ‘billionaire’ paying $750 in federal income tax. The system is so broken.⁣”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to share that she paid thousands in taxes as a bartender saying “He contributed less to funding our communities than waitresses & undocumented immigrants.” She also called out Republicans who ridiculed her for a $250 haircut when Trump wrote off $70,000 in hair styling saying “they’re spineless, misogynistic hypocrites.”

The reveal comes just two days before the first presidential debate happening Tuesday, Sept. 29, and just a little over a month before the election. This has added fuel to the #votehimout fire which many are saying it will also give Democratic nominee Joe Biden enough to put Trump on the defensive.

In the meantime, Latinx Twitter will continue to analyze and breakdown all the ways his presidency has been a study in corruption and racism.  California Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez did however point out that $750 is more than Mexico paid for the wall he claimed they’d pay for.
