Last night, the 2017 MTV Music Video Awards took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and it was a real spectacle. Award shows are never that interesting, but usually the performances and the host are. This was not the cast last night. Aside from some great moments by Alessia Cara, Pink (who was honored with the Video Vanguard award), and Heather Heyer’s mother, Susan Bro, who made a special appearance, it was an award show as usual.
However, there was the fashion. The red-carpet is when celebs can shine with the vision of their own expression, which is why there’s so much pressure and even more entertaining to watch. With so much riding on the line — as far who will “bring it,” whatever that may be — some celebs did not disappoint.
Even Alessia Cara, who went as casual as can be, shined with radiance because she does not need an ounce of anything to be beautiful star that she is.
Some other celebs took glam to another level. Including Demi Lovato, who not only performed in a pool (so Vegas) but lit it up on the red-carpet with Zuhair Murad outfit and Casadei shoes.
Cardi B — who was also in Vegas for the Big3 fina Mayweather vs. McGregor fight — also performed at the VMAs. She was totally in her element last night and this white Christian Siriano red-carpet number was stunning. She’s in the big time and she knows it.
“Black-ish” star and woke teen Yara Shahidi wore a very gorgeous Zimmerman gown. Her entire look from dress to hair screamed ’70s throwback. It was so great to see a young star bring sophistication to the award show.
Last but certainly not least, Lorde arrived in a beautiful off-pink feathery dress. She was not your typical princess, which is why her demure makeup and hair goes so well with this dress. It’s totally in line with her chilled out vibe. We loved her performance outfit as well. Who else can pull-off sweats and a dress but Lorde herself.
See you at the VMAs next year!
