Yesterday, Cardi B made history with her single “Bodak Yellow” and we’re sure she’s going to be riding that wave for a while to come. The Dominican-American rapper from the Bronx is now the “first female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart without the assistance of any other credited artists in nearly 19 years, as her debut hit ‘Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)’ rises from No. 2 to No. 1 on the latest chart (dated Oct. 7),” Billboard reports. The last time that happened was back in 1988 when Lauryn Hill owned that title.
Cardi B is standing up there on her own and that is huge. Another big accomplishment is the fact that she is the first Dominican-American artist to top the charts as well. She was also responsible for pushing Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” out of the top spot too – and that ain’t no easy feat.
Here’s the exact moment she found out she made it to number one:

And then her label – Atlantic Records – through her a big party to celebrate.

Needless to say Cardi B who rose from stripping to the star of VH1’s “Love and Hip-Hop” to social media queen is now the top dog and she is loving every second of it.
The list of people that congratulated would make anyone blush and maybe cry humble tears, and Cardi B is no different. She saluted all the people the gave her props because none of it would be possible with them.
Every single FEMALE RAPPER CONGRATULATED ME TODAY .Is the best feeling cause I listened to ALL OF THEM

In the past, Cardi B has been asked if she wanted to be bigger than Nicki Minaj, Cardi B responded by saying: “I don’t wanna be, like, queen … I just wanna make music and make money.”
