The 2020 presidential campaign is heating up. The Democrats are running steadily on the campaign trail, which means the lone Republican needs to get on that train asap. President Donald Trump launched his 2020 campaign a couple of days ago in Orlando, Florida, and he’s now targeting a very specific demographic.

Trump is making his case to the Latino population and wants to ensure they will vote for him. So how exactly is he going to do this? Next Tuesday, the President will be in Miami for another Trump rally and his staff is hoping “Latinos for Trump” will show up, but will they?

“The strong Latino support for President Trump and his policies will be instrumental in re-electing the president for a second term,” Hannah Castillo, director of coalitions for the Trump campaign, said in a statement, according to The Hill.

Vice President Mike Pence will also be hand presumably because he’s a more trustworthy politician with conservative views, which is a stronghold for many Latinos, especially the Cuban community in Miami. Politico reports that the Latino/Trump push in Miami will be spearheaded by Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Núñez, a Cuban American and former member of the Florida House.

Trump is also hoping his new (and first ever) interview for a Spanish network will also air tonight on Telemundo. The President had some very interesting words about immigration and the separation of families.

When asked about his zero-tolerance policy, Trump said he put families together and did not separate them.

President Obama had child separation. Take a look. The press knows it. You know it. We all know it. I didn’t have — I’m the one that stopped it… But President Obama had the law. We changed the law, and I think the press should accurately report it. But of course, they won’t,” he said.

Trump may be good at attempting to rewrite history, but it remains to be seen if the Latino community will fall for it. Conservative Latinos may want to ban abortion and they may want secure borders, but the lasting effects of all the turmoil the president has caused since his election from unconstitutional ICE raids to migrants dying in ICE custody, and the continuous mass shootings, his record pretty much speaks for itself. Maybe some Latinos — like other Trump supporters — enjoy the chaos that continues to unfold daily in our country.

Here’s the interview below.
