AOC and The Squad are getting the superhero treatment with the upcoming release of AOC and the Freshman Force: New Party, Who Dis? featuring them as a superhero team fighting corruption, racism, and the GOP.
The subtitle reads “we’re not going anywhere” with cover art featuring all four women designed by Joel Humberto Herrera. The sequel is a follow up to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force, a 52-page book that included various outlandish vignettes in response to AOC’s real life in Congress released earlier this year by Devil’s Due comics.

One story converts the world of politics into a wrestling ring where AOC is in a “Senate Slam” against deplorable special interest groups. At one point she’s visited by someone who introduces themselves as “New York’s Greatest Senator” and in true feminist fashion, she guesses it’s Hillary Clinton but it turns out to be Franklin Delano Roosevelt — another famous politician who goes by a three-lettered acronym.
In the foreword for that first volume, Devil’s Due founder Josh Blaylock said he created the comic because he was inspired by AOC and with this second release it’s evident readers are too.
“In recent days, the President had directed his latest round of bigoted vitriol at not just one, but four women of color recently elected to Congress,” said Devil’s Due publisher Josh Blaylock, Newsarama reports. “And I’m pretty sure he’s unaware of the political hurt they’re going to unleash on him in the coming months. We have some predictions of our own, mind you, and we’re excited to put a bunch of them into this upcoming issue.”
For the upcoming issue, The Squad — that includes congresswomen Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley — will feature brand new storylines with them engaging in heroic acts against the establishment and President Trump. The 48-page comic will be written and drawn by acclaimed and award-winning artists with a limited release of 500 copies. There will be two editions, currently available for preorder, and the MF Variant is $30 with 100 percent of the profits going to Raices Texas and Second Families. They’ve also released a pin of AOC with her signature red lips and white power suit.

AOC is also getting the book treatment with “The ABCs of AOC: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from A to Z,” a children’s book coming out in October chronicling her career so far with words like “Feminist,” “Advocate,” and “Revolutionary.”
Both publications are clear indicators of AOC’s power and influence, especially among younger generations and now together with Squad, they’re amplifying the voices of people of color in a space where it’s desperately needed.
