Watch Ally Brooke Channel Selena Quintanilla in DWTS Performance

Ally Brooke paid a lovely tribute to Selena Quintanilla last night on Dancing With the Stars. The former Fifth Harmony member danced the rumba to Selena’s “Dreaming of You.” Her tribute also extended to her dress and hairstyle, which was the same as Selena’s silver dress and updo.

“Tonight was for you Selena, My #1 inspiration,” Ally wrote on Instagram. “I hope I made Selena’s family and fans proud. This was so beautiful for me to do. The Rumba to Dreaming of You! I love you forever.”

Ally, who’s of Mexican descent and is from Texas as well, posted her message in Spanish too. “Esta noche fue para ti Selena, Mi inspiracion #1. Espero haber enorgullecido a la familia y fanáticos de Selena. Poder hacer esto, fue muy hermoso para mi. ¡La rumba, a la cancíon Dreaming of You! Te amare por siempre.”

The dance routine, which she danced with her partner Sasha Farber, was exquisite and the judges thought so too.

“I had chills the whole time!” Carrie Ann Inaba said, and the trio ended giving her a 24 out of 30. Ally said her inspiration wasn’t just Selena, who she’s been a fan of since she was a two-year-old toddler, but of Jennifer Lopez’s rendition of Selena in the 1997 biopic film. After all, the theme on DWTS was “movie night,” and Ally chose Selena.

At the end of her performance, Ally said, “I want to give them a shout out, all the Quintanilla’s. Suzette, we got to see her a few days ago. Selena’s in my heart forever. I hope I made her proud.”

We think Suzette was definitely proud because she posted a picture of Ally on stage last night on her Instagram story.

Fans on social media were also thrilled to see and hear Selena on DWTS.

One Twitter user wrote, “Watching #dwts once again with my mom and she BAWLED watching Ally and Sasha’s dance. She loved Selena a lot and said Ally looked like her while dancing.”

And another shared that Ally did a great job on the Selena dance tribute, “That was stunning! From one Texas native/Selena fan to another, you were fantastic!”

We couldn’t agree more, and we’re just hoping Ally can do some more Selena tributes during her next performances because we think she’s going to go all the way to the final round.
