Angelina Dumarot

Angelina Dumarot is a seasoned communications and crisis strategist, special needs advocate, and emerging author with more than 20 years of experience in journalism, public affairs, and community engagement. She currently serves as an Executive Director of Communications for the City of Los Angeles, where she leads strategic messaging, media relations, and crisis response. Her work has supported key initiatives focused on equity, immigrant rights, economic justice, and access to care. Born in Soyapango, El Salvador, Angelina immigrated to Los Angeles as an undocumented child—entering first grade without knowing how to read, write, or speak English. A proud graduate of LAUSD and the daughter of a housekeeper, she became the first in her family to earn a college degree. She holds a journalism degree from California State University, Northridge, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Sundial. Her journalism career included roles at the Ventura County Star, Orange County Register, and Los Angeles Daily News. In 2025, she will release her debut children’s book, “Franky(sito)’s World,” a personal and culturally grounded story inspired by her son’s autism diagnosis. Angelina’s work bridges public service, storytelling, and advocacy for underrepresented families.
