An Epic Evening: Astros Star Carlos Correa Proposes to Girlfriend After World Series Win

In case you were living under a rock for the past couple of weeks, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros have been battling it out for the Major League Baseball World Series title. Well, last night we got our dinner: The Houston Astros took the series and brought pride to the Texas town. But the news giving us all the feels this morning isn’t what happened on the baseball field during the game, but rather what happened afterward: As the Astros celebrated player, Carlos Correa got down on one knee and proposed to girlfriend Daniella Rodriguez.
And of course, she said YES!
The former Miss Texas USA and the Puerto Rican shortstop have been dating since the fall of 2016 and the proposal was most definitely planned. In fact, Correa wanted to propose sooner but decided to wait and see if the Astros would clinch the World Series title so that he could have his special moment on the national stage.
“I was like OK, so we have a championship caliber team, so let me wait it out to see if we can be champions and do it at the big stage,” Correa said. “So, we were able to win the game, which was the first part of my day to accomplish, and then I was able to do it.”
Although initially surprised, the 21-year-old bride-to-be said “yes!” and celebrated with her 23-year-old World Series champ future hubby.
In another sweet turn of events from Correa, the baseball star proudly waved the Puerto Rican flag after winning the World Series and dedicated the win to his home country, saying on Instagram: “Puerto Rico te dedico este campeonato ??”
With this stressful baseball season behind them, Correa and Rodriguez can now focus on their engagement. The couple, who frequently posted adorable photos together on Instagram, will surely be busy planning their nuptials. And will a honeymoon to Bora Bora be their destination? According to the New York Post, that was Rodriguez’s favorite travel destination during the Miss USA pageant last year.

No matter where they decide to go to celebrate their love, the future together sure looks bright… and so does Rodriguez’s sparkly new engagement ring alongside Correa’s World Series ring.
