There’s a New Way to Celebrate Selena in Houston!

While we’re a bit bummed that the Como La Flor Festival was canceled in Corpus Christi, the state of Texas has found other ways to celebrate Selena Quintanilla. Next week in Houston, people will gather for Selena Loteria and Mercadito, a night of games, music, and more.
The East End Studio Gallery will be hosting the evening event which will include local vendors, a game of Loteria — the Selena version — give-a-ways, a set by Dj twinkle-toes, and a screening of Selena. It’s basically the ultimate fantasy for any Selena fan. According to the East End Studio Gallery’s Facebook page, they often host Selena-inspired events. Still, this one happening next week is especially exciting because who doesn’t love a round of bingo?
This version of Loteria looks a lot different from the original. For starters, these cards only have nine squares as opposed to the 16 on the original card. The other cool thing about these Selena cards is that each character featured is something Selena related, including her black and silver sequined bustier top, her hoop earrings, la carcacha, the cholos that gave the family a lift after their bus broke down, the tour bus, and much more! There is also a sinister character, which we’re actually surprised to see. As you know, every Loteria card has a diablo, but in the Selena version, the devil is Yolanda Saldivar!
Admission to the event comes with two fares. The “Bidi bidi bom bom” option will cost you $30 a ticket, and that comes with one game card that you get to play all night, two drinks, and a small goodie bag. The “Como la flor” option costs $50 a ticket, and that comes with two game cards that you can play all night, two drinks, and a bigger tote goodie bag.
We’re thinking option #2 is way better because playing with only one card all night will drive you nuts. Your chances of winning just gets better.
