Demi Lovato is officially back. The singer announced she would be performing at this year’s 62nd Annual Grammy Awards on Jan. 26. This is the first time Lovato performs live since her reported drug overdose in 2018.

“I told you the next time you’d hear from me, I’d be singing,” Lovato said yesterday in a captioned Instagram post. Her previous post was an all-black image back in early December. She said the next time we’d hear from her she’d be singing, but we honestly thought she might release a new single. During that month-long period, a lot happened.

For starters, Lovato and her boyfriend, Austin Wilson broke up. Then her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama announced he was engaged to model Amanda Pacheco. So, fans were a bit worried about Lovato and hoped these life-changing incidents wouldn’t lead her down the wrong path. Earlier this year, however, Lovato was reportedly happy for her ex and his bride-to-be.

“She’s happy for Wilmer if he’s happy. She always wants the best for him in life and is glad he has found love,” a source said, according to Teen Vogue

Fans are thrilled Lovato is in a good place and will be back on stage where she belongs. Now we’re just wondering what song she will be singing. Will it be a new one, an old favorite? Who cares! We just want her singing anything!

The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer has come a long way since that terrifying 2018 overdose. While she has kept a low profile somewhat, she has been keeping fans up to date on her life adventures, including going on some vacations, appearing on Will & Grace, and getting some new ink. Through it all, Lovato said she has been working on herself and staying healthy even if that image looks different to people.

“I want this new chapter in my life to be about being authentic to who I am rather than trying to meet someone else’s standards,” she said on Instagram in September. “So here’s me, unashamed, unafraid and proud to own a body that has fought through so much and will continue to amaze me when I hopefully give birth one day.”

Lovato will be part of a stellar lineup at the Grammys. Other stars slated to perform are Ariana Grande, Lizzo, Tyler the Creator, Billie Eilish, Aerosmith, and Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Alicia Keys will be serving as host for the evening.

The 62nd GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 will be broadcasting live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
