As a kid, Sophia Hadjipanteli had always been teased and bullied for her unibrow. She grew accustomed to the bullying and like most of us who get teased for our looks, changed her look in order to fit it. For years, she simply began to groom her luscious brown brows in a way that wouldn’t make people look twice. However, her beauty alone is stunning despite the shape of her brows, so, once she gained the confidence to be herself, her face went from an average model to an individual like no other.

As we all know the most famous unibrow in the world is clearly that of Frida Kahlo, which is why some are even calling Sophia a modern-day Frida. And it’s not because she’s a painter, but because no one should be ashamed of having a unibrow.

Sophia told the New York Post that she’s been modeling since she was 14 and while she had some followers on Instagram, her account exploded with new fans only after she began growing our her unibrow as they once were when she was younger. She said people from her native country of Cyprus (an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean) are “naturally hairy people.” So, once she embraced her real look she began to inspire others to be themselves.

“I am not really doing this to show people that they have to like [my unibrow], I am more so doing it to show people that they can get on with their lives by having a preference. I personally think my face looks better this way. Others disagree, and that’s totally cool,” she told Harper’s Bazaar last year. “I am not trying to get anyone on the unibrow bandwagon. If I like this, just let me like this.”

What’s so amazing about Sophia isn’t that she has incredible brows, it’s the fact that she’s not hiding her individual look anymore just to fit in. And because she’s showing her bravery to her followers, that she’s inspiring others to do the same.
