Kacey Musgraves is celebrating the musical ties between Texas and Mexico with Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes.
The 16-song album will feature four songs sung entirely in Spanish, including collaborations with Intocable and Mariachi Oro De América. The project arrives January 15, 2027, via Lost Highway Records.
The Spanish-language tracks include a newly recorded version of “Uncertain, TX” featuring Intocable. Mariachi Oro De América joins Musgraves on “Tú Solo Tú,” recorded live in Mexico City. The collaborations put both groups alongside the Texas artist on a project that also includes “(Hey Baby) Qué Pasó?” and “Before The Next Teardrop Falls.”

Listeners won’t have to wait until January for a preview. Musgraves will release “Weekend In Texas” and her rendition of the Norteño classic “Mi Tesoro” on Thursday night, October 22. The latter offers an early listen to the album’s Spanish-language material.

According to Variety, the album arrives just eight months after Middle of Nowhere Vol. 1. The announcement describes the new collection as “expanding on themes of solitude, contentment, and finding beauty in the in-between.”
