Kacey Musgraves Covers “Como La Flor” At Houston Rodeo

Fresh off the heels of the Grammys and Oscars — all in one week — country singer Kacey Musgraves is back at work and doing what she loves best, performing. The singer had a tour stop last night at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and paid homage to Selena Quintanilla — an artist she truly admires. The 30-year-old sang “Como La Flor,” and fans loved every second of it.

Musgraves, who’s also from Texas, has been stanning over Selena for a while now. Last year, Billboard asked her who her favorite inspirations were, and she said “Dolly Parton’s at the top of that list,” and also “Selena Quintanilla, being from Texas, she’s the ultimate queen.”

She also said in an interview with Oprahmag.com that she once learned Spanish as a little girl just so she could sing “Como La Flor,” because that is her dream collaboration.

“She was amazing at blending traditional Mexican music with the sounds of her time,” she said. “For my fifth-grade talent show, I asked my school’s ESL teacher to help me learn her song ‘Como La Flor,’ and you best believe I won!”

We don’t doubt that for a second.

Fans pretty much flipped out during Musgraves’s incredible performance and sang along with her too. Social media was just as nuts over this beautiful cover. Here’s what some of them had to say.
