The 2019 Premio Lo Nuestro awards took place last night at the American Airlines in Miami, and the three big winners were Ozuna, J. Balvin and Natti Natasha. The night was also filled with a ton of amazing performances by Marc Anthony, Thalia, Alejandro Sanz, and Daddy Yankee.
Roma star Yalitza Aparicio was also on hand — sort of. The Oscar-nominated actress is having a busy week leading into the Oscars this weekend so she couldn’t make it to Miami for Premio Lo Nuestro. She did, however, send a video apologizing for not being able to make it.
Back to the winners. So as we said Ozuna, J. Balvin and Natti Natasha all got big awards last night. Ozuna took home a total of nine awards including five awards for his song “Me niego” a collaboration with Reik and Wisin. That song won Single of the year, Collaboration of the year, Song of the year, Song of the year Pop/Rock, and Pop/Rock – Collaboration of the year. J. Balvin won Artist of the Year, Video of the year for “Mi cama REMIX” with Karol G and Nicky Jam, and Social artist of the year.
We were especially elated to see Natasha represent the women at Premio Lo Nuestro by taking home four awards including Tropical Song of the year for “Quién Sabe,” Tropical Collaboration of the year for “Justicia” with Silvestre Dangond, Urban Song of the year for “Sin pijama” with Becky G, and Collaboration of the year, again for “Sin pijama” with Becky G.
Natasha also performed twice including “Pa’ mala yo” and “No me acuerdo” alongside Thalia and Lali Espósito. Here’s that performance below.
People on social media especially liked that Daddy Yankee performed with male dancers. So refreshing!
J Balvin also had a stellar performance.
The rapper talked about his new single with Selena Gomez, Tainy and Benny Blanco and it’s going to be another bilingual hit!
“[Selena sings in] English. You know, I represent the Spanish,” Balvin said in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight.” “[She’s] amazing! Such a humble girl. Great person. I’m really happy she’s the way she is.”
We can’t wait to hear it!
