Naya Rivera wants to be in the remake of West Side Story — but who doesn’t right? Here’s the thing…we think she has a really good chance at playing the iconic role of Anita that was once played by the legendary Rita Moreno. “The Glee” actress — who we know is good at singing and dancing — put her name in the running in a pretty cool way.
Naya auditioned for the role via Instagram! The actress filmed herself singing a portion of “America” from the play/film. She wrote in the caption: “@unitedtalentagency file was too big to send via email for my audition. Thought I’d try it this way.” We hope United Talent Agency is listening because her short clip has been viewed more than 5 million times on Instagram alone.

Our initial thoughts: HOT DAMN! We love it 100 percent!
Naya — who is of Puerto Rican decent — would be ideal for this role especially because Steven Spielberg has specifically requested Latino Spanish-speaking actors.
Other actors are also taking to social media to post their audition for the new West Side Story.
Broadway actor Ben Platt — who will be with Lin-Manuel Miranda at tomorrow’s March For Our Lives rally — also posted his signing audition on YouTube.
He’s vying for the role of Tony. Here he is singing “Maria.”

We actually feel kind of sorry for the casting directors. We know it’s going to be really tough to get the casting just right with so much talent out there.
