Netflix celebrated Day of the Dead at Hollywood Forever, a famous cemetery in Los Angeles, and it was incredible! While Day of the Dead was last week, we still cannot get enough of this festive tribute that honors the dead.
Hollywood Forever has been celebrating this Latino tradition for the past 18 years, but this year they had the most clever theme. They decided to honor our beloved fictional characters from some of our favorite Netflix shows.
“This year, along with the traditional Aztec blessings, musical performances of renowned Mexican artists, and an Art Exhibition in the Cathedral Mausoleum curated by Luis Villanueva, Netflix created five authentic altars to celebrate their beloved characters from popular shows who have ‘passed away’ but are still always with us–literally.”
So who was honored? Hollywood Forever paid tribute to Poussey from “Orange is the New Black,” journalist, Zoe Barnes from “House of Cards,” Diego Nava from “Ingobernable,” owner of the Cuervos soccer team, Salvador Iglesias from “Club de Cuervos,” and our favorite Barb from Stranger Things.”
Here’s some highlights from this beautiful event.
