Nipsey Hussle Vigil Breaks Into Chaos and Police Identify a Suspect

Last night in Los Angeles, a vigil for Nipsey Hussle ended in chaos after people thought they heard gunshots. The mass stampede resulted in the injury of 19 people. The Los Angeles Police Department also named a suspect in the fatal shooting of the 33-year-old rapper and entrepreneur. Officials named 29-year-old Eric Holder as the suspect that shot and killed Nipsey Hussle (who’s birth name is Ermias Asghedom) on Sunday afternoon in front of Nipsey’s place of business in Los Angeles. The shooter also injured two other people.

Detectives have worked tirelessly and are now asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in this case. The LAPD said in a statement. “Eric Holder is wanted for Homicide in the shooting of Nipsey Hussle. He was last seen in a 2016 white 4 door Chevy Cruze CA license plate 7RJD742. Anyone with information related to his whereabouts or this deadly shooting is urged to contact South Bureau Homicide at 323-786-5100.”

People gathered in front of Nipsey’s clothing store in L.A., where he was shot, to pay respects. A memorial for the rapper also formed. However, people began running all over the place after they heard a loud bang. According to CNN, “Of the patients transported by the fire department, two had critical injuries and two had serious injuries. The others suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the fire department said. One person was injured in a collision with a car, the fire department said.”The LAPD said only one person was arrested last night for disorderly conduct.

“We understand the community is mourning and we feel your loss,” the LAPD tweeted last night. “We are asking for everyone to follow the officers’ directions and disperse from the immediate area. Our men and women are on scene and making every effort to protect everyone in attendance at the Nipsey Hussle vigil.”

Celebrities continued to pay tribute to Nipsey on social media. Beyoncé posted an image of Nipsey as a little boy. “I’m praying with every ounce of my heart for your family. Rest In Peace, Nipsey.”

Rihanna said on Twitter, “This doesn’t make any sense! My spirit is shaken by this! Dear God may His spirit Rest In Peace and May You grant divine comfort to all his loved ones! ??? I’m so sorry this happened to you @nipseyhussle.”

During a concert in Argentina, Kendrick Lamar said, “Before we got on the stage, we got wind that our warrior, our soldier Nipsey Hussle passed away. So we want to take this time now, truly, to give a moment of silence. Can we do that?” According to US Weekly, Lamar included a moment of silence and then said, “We love you, Nipsey!”

Nipsey leaves behind two kids and his partner of five years Lauren London.
