You probably know her best for her hysterical portrayal of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family or her sexy marriage to Joe Manganiello, but recently Colombian superstar Sofia Vergara made us proud for a whole other reason: She is reminding women why it is important to get their mammograms.

In a recent post on her Instagram account, Vergara posted a video of herself dressed in a plush bathrobe standing in front of what looks like a medical imaging machine with the caption, “You have to do it!!!???? #mammogram ?#medicalimaging women’s imaging.” In the video, she gives a little dance and is clearly happy to be there — a great message for women of any age.

Although having your breasts squeezed in a machine and examined by a doctor may not be the most exciting occurrence on the planet, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there is no better time than right now to go for your annual exam.

This isn’t the first time that Sofia Vergara has spoken up about health issues and inspired us all. Earlier this year, the star opened up about accepting her body as she ages for Women’s Health. Now she’s going from body confidence to tackling important health topics with her reminder for all to get their mammograms done. As women, we can often put our own health on the back-burner but it’s important to make yourself a priority.

According to the American Cancer Society, mammograms are a screening tool to detect early breast cancer in women who are experiencing no symptoms. Typically, the ACS recommends that women start getting regular screenings beginning at age 40, but you should talk with your doctor if you have any concerns earlier on or have a family history. After all, it’s always better to be safe then sorry and, as Sofia Vergara says: You have to do it!
