Doll collections are about to get kookier with the addition of the Wednesday Addams doll by American Girl. The limited edition collector’s item is inspired by actress Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of the character on the Netflix series Wednesday. With only 6,000 available, it’s definitely a coveted doll so it’s no surprise it has already sold out after it was announced in late July. The release is perfectly timed with the premiere of the second season coming this August. This limited-edition American Girl doll was designed in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios featuring accessories inspired by the popular series led by the actress who is of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent.
Wednesday has ensnared the adoration of millions of viewers worldwide, so it’s only fitting that there would be a mini version of her created for fans to have at home. She certainly stands out from other American Girl dolls with her signature macabre spirit. At 18 inches tall, the doll embodies her fierceness and is adorned in gothic finery. She’s got the classic raven-haired pigtails, dons a black velvet dress and Mary Jane shoes, and has nails painted to match.
What’s even more special are the details that capture the character’s morbid spirit and gallows sense of humor. The doll comes with her handy sidekick Thing (pun intended) and two bags of ravenous piranhas. She also wears a necklace with her initial “W” on one side and the initial “M,” for her mother Morticia, on the other. Even the packaging is spooky with its casket shape.
The Wednesday Addams collectible was available for $295 on American Girl and Amazon but has already sold out. With the positive response this limited edition doll has received, let’s keep our fingers crossed that perhaps another release is slated for the future but at this time no such announcement has been made.
American Girl is a Mattel-owned toy company creating dolls to celebrate girlhood. Their mission is to inspire girls of all ages to be strong, confident, and free-spirited. The Jenna Ortega Wednesday-inspired doll isn’t the first time a Latina has been included in the collection. The first Latina doll was Josefina Montoya released in 1997 and reissued in 2024. Since then, there have been other Latina dolls featured, but this new release marks the first time one has been modeled after a Latina celebrity.
If you weren’t able to snag the American Girl Wednesday Addams Collector Doll, don’t feel too woeful. You can look forward to the Wednesday season two premiere. Not only that, but it’s also been announced that the show has been renewed for a third season.
The second season is being divided into two parts. The first will debut on Netflix on August 6 and the second part releases on September 3. Viewers can expect the new season to be darker and full of more twists. In a joint interview with Tim Burton about the series, Ortega commented, “Netflix has a lot more trust this time around. So we were able to do things on a grander scale and were able to spend more time on sequences.”
Catherina Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán reprise the roles of Wednesday’s parents, Morticia and Gomez. Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) also joins his big hermana at Nevermore Academy this season. Fans can also look forward to both returning and new characters accompanying Wednesday on her sinister adventures.
The American Girl Wednesday doll has undoubtedly ignited excitement surrounding the show and the anticipation is sure to continue as the new season of Wednesday unfolds.
