Jennifer Lopez is hands down one of the biggest fashion icons there is. She is the a source of inspiration for Latinxs everywhere, with several of her looks both admired and duplicated. Here are eight of J.Lo’s most iconic outfits, on and off the red carpet.
The 2000 Grammys Green Versace Dress
This Versace dress became its own pop culture powerhouse. The vibrant green palm print, the sheer arms and bottom, and the down-to-there plunge neckline shocked everyone. In fact, the garment is responsible for Google Image Search.
The All White 2000 VMAs Ensemble
Who knew that this all-white outfit would launch an endless number of Jennifer Lopez Halloween costumes? For the 2000 MTV VMAs, J.Lo paired a cropped, sparkly Sean John top with white pants and bandana, all glammed up with sparkling crystals.
The Pink Juicy Couture Tracksuit in the “I’m Real” Video
Jennifer Lopez is known for wearing super cute, sporty tracksuits. In her video for the “I’m Real” remix, she wore a girly pink velour hoodie and shorts set by Juicy Couture that became iconic.
“Jenny from the Block” and Those Manolo Timberland Boots
For the video for “Jenny from the Block” (released in 2002), Jennifer wore an all-beige outfit with Manalo Blahnik boots inspired by Timberland. That same year, I dressed up as a pink-clad version of Jenny from the Block for a Halloween party (pink, heeled, Timberland-inspired boots and all).
JLo Reppin’ New York
Jennifer Lopez has repped The Bronx from the beginning. You will see the New York influence in her streetwear outfits, featuring big hoops, NY hats, parkas, and Timberland boots. Perfect example? Her 2014 “Same Girl” video.
The 2016 Golden Globes Pop of Yellow
Jennifer Lopez loves wearing neutrals, but when she goes for a pop of color, she really goes for it. Remember this sunny look from the 2016 Golden Globes? She paired the bold Giambattista Valli dress with equally bold red lips, red nails, and 200 carats of Harry Winston diamonds.
JLo in Jumpsuits
Another go-to for J.Lo are jumpsuits and rompers (I owned two of her velour jumpsuits from her J.Lo line, and they were amazing). There was the denim jumpsuit from the J.Lo album cover, other casual jumpsuits she pairs with boots or sneakers; and the super glam ones by labels including Versace and Zuhair Murad.
Jennifer Lopez’s Neutral, Sparkling Red Carpet Gowns
Jennifer Lopez has mastered the art of knowing what works for her sartorially. It’s always fun to try new looks, but time and experience allows you to discover your signature silhouettes, styles, and colors. Sure, she wears a lot of sheer, nude and neutral-colored, sparkling, bodycon gowns. But you know what? They look incredible every time, and are a part of her signature look.
